JESSUP, MARYLAND – NOVEMBER 2010: Chris Cundy of Bozeman, Montana, was recently identified as the 1,000th customer of API’s highly regarded A2D. In the four short years since its introduction, the A2D has become one of the most popular and decorated products of the company’s offerings.
“It’s the ideal mix of the old and the new. The solid-state heritage of API with two reference quality 312 mic preamps in combination with the cutting-edge application of today’s technology in a superb A/D section is what makes the A2D such a hit,” said Larry Droppa, president of API. “It is our one and only product with a digital output and it’s great to have it become one of our best-selling products.”
Cundy is part of the team at The Shed, a production, tracking, mixing, educational and rehearsal facility in Bozeman. The Shed consists of
two isolation rooms, a piano studio,
control room and a live performance room.
“I received the A2D a few weeks ago and I am totally impressed with it,” said Cundy. “I’ve used it in a variety of situations and I am excited by the results. Both the pres and converters are outstanding.” A part of the local music scene since he was 18, Cundy plays a variety of keyboards including Hammond organ and piano. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University and continues to have a strong interest in all aspects of the technical side of music production and performance from concert sound and lighting to studio tracking and mixing.
“Most recently, I co-produced and co-engineered an album by the former Savoy Brown frontman, Dave Walker,” added Cundy. “His latest album, Crazy All the Time, was tracked and mixed at The Shed. I also just finished playing and co-engineering jazz vocalist Jeni Fleming’s latest album, Come to Life. It was upon completion of these projects that I decided I wanted to add the A2D to our mic pre selection. I knew I wanted API and after researching a bit I found the A2D to be a great unit.”
Chris purchased his A2D through his regular contact at Sweetwater. API recognized this A2D milestone by supplying Chris with a limited edition API jacket and a $400 gift certificate for future purchases at Sweetwater.
