ASHLY PROCESSORS AND AMPS A DYNAMIC DUO AT TWIN PEAKS RESTAURANT

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA: Owing to a successful recipe of “man food,” sports and sexy young waitresses, Twin Peaks Restaurant is one of the nation’s fastest growing chains. Part of its brand concept is to build “the perfect man cave,” which includes high-fidelity sound reinforcement to complement a profusion of screens. Clean Media AV recently helped complete a Twin Peaks Restaurant in its hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. To meet the restaurant’s demanding A/V requirements with an utterly reliable, yet still cost effective system, Clean Media AV designed the system around Ashly Audio network-ready processors and amplifiers.

The new Twin Peaks Restaurant occupies 7,500 square feet, which Clean Media AV subdivided into multiple zones so that volumes and input sources could be finely controlled. Nearly seventy high-definition televisions dot the ceiling and walls, guaranteeing that patrons are well positioned to take in multiple games and events

no matter where they’re sitting. It was a big job that still came with a closely watched budget. “We began to rely on Ashly Audio equipment after very successful installations at two local bars that I co-own, the Red Revolver Lounge and the Scottsdale Lodge,” said Dylan Vicha, owner of Clean Media AV.

The system at Twin Peaks, Scottsdale uses an Ashly ne24.24M processor at its core. Because the ne24.24M has a modular I/O topology, Clean Media AV’s project manager, Paul Barden, was able to affordably scale the processor with the needs of the larger system. Eight inputs accept signals from a PCM background music & video source, a Blu-Ray player, and DirecTV. Twelve outputs send to an Ashly ne1600.70, which powers five JBL Control 40CST subwoofers, and three Ashly ne8250.70pc amplifiers, which power over sixty JBL Control-series full-range loudspeakers with integrated loudspeaker management DSP.

Both the NE-series multi-channel amplifiers and the NE24.24M matrix processor allow Ethernet access to the audio system from any location. Changes to any of the Twin Peaks’ sound systems can be made easily, lowering the long-term ownership costs to the client.

“Ashly’s great price-point coupled with its bulletproof reliability is a big selling point,” said Barden. “The ne8250.70pc packs eight channels of 250-watt amplification – plus Ashly’s Protea DSP – into just two rack spaces. That makes Twin Peak’s system more energy efficient and more cost efficient, but with lower maintenance requirements and less impact on the environment. With Ashly, we’re getting great results with less product.”

The user control at Twin Peaks is a transparent hybrid between Crestron control and Ashly wall mount remote controls. The Crestron system folds the audio and video elements together allowing, for example, close zone coordination between selection of the big game in a particular zone and its accompanying audio. But for local zone audio control, five Ashly WR-5 wall-mount remotes and one Ashly WR-1 wall-mount remote distributed throughout the restaurant do the job. The WR-1 provides simple volume control, whereas the WR-5s all allow zone-specific input selection and volume control.
