Valencia, Spain – June 2012 … Turkey’s Ministry of Transportation conference and event hall, headquartered in the Turkish capital of Ankara, measures approximately 250 square metres with seating for more than 200 people. The Ministry is responsible for transport, information and communication services, and the hall – used for press junkets and a variety of conferences – was recently outfitted with a top to bottom sound system comprised of D.A.S. Variant and Artec series systems.

With new technologies taking on an increasingly more important role, conference and event spaces of this type need to be able to accommodate audio-visual components. Melomani, the Turkish company contracted for the installation, designed the project accordingly: because the space contains a screen for projections and audio-visual elements, sound designers decided to implement a 5.1-type surround sound system, with the standard configuration of left, right and centre channels, as well as the corresponding subwoofer and surround channels.

Powered installation array systems from the D.A.S. Variant series were used for the three main channels (L-R-C), specifically three clusters of three Variant 112A units each. Variant 18A self-powered subwoofer systems were installed to handle low frequency reproduction. Finally, eight D.A.S. Artec 8 systems were employed to achieve the impressive surround sound effect of this 5.1 arrangement.

The media announcement of the upcoming expansion of Ankara’s underground system was the setting for the unveiling of this complete D.A.S. sound reinforcement system. This project, undertaken by the Turkish Ministry of Transport, will involve the establishment of two new subway lines for the Turkish capital, and will be, coincidentally, carried out by the Spanish company Comsa.

The event was hosted by the Turkish Transport Minister himself, Binali Yildrim, and the highest Spanish representative in the country, Ambassador Cristóbal González-Aller, was also in attendance. During the event, different projections related to the project were displayed, giving the impressive D.A.S. professional sound system a chance to show off a bit for the attendees.
