The Music Producers Guild Opens The Voting For Its 2013 Awards

With nominations for the 2013 Music Producers Guild Awards running at a record high, the Music Producers Guild is delighted to announce that voting is now open for all Full Members of the organisation, who will decide the shortlist for 15 of the 18 award categories.

“Our Awards are obviously gaining in popularity and status as this year over 500 individual names have been nominated in the various award categories,” says MPG Chairman Steve Levine. “We are thrilled by this as it shows just how much talent and creativity there is in the sphere of the recording professional – and how much these people value receiving an award that has been judged by their peers.”

The Music Producers Guild Awards fly the flag for the achievements of the UK’s top producers, engineers, remixers and mastering engineers. The 2013 Music Producers Guild Awards will take place at the Café de Paris in London on February 7th, 2013. As in previous years, the winner of the MPG UK Producer of the Year category will automatically win a BRIT Award for Best Producer.

In total there are 18 award categories, three of which are at the bequest of the MPG Awards committee. However, MPG Full Members are entitled to vote for the following categories and are encouraged to do so before the closing date of November 30th 2012.

UK Producer of the Year – sponsored by the BRIT Awards
International Producer of the Year – sponsored by British Grove
Breakthrough Producer of the Year

Voting for Full Members is simple. Instructions on how to log in and vote will be emailed to each Full Member individually. Recording professionals who are eligible to join the MPG as Full Members still have time to take part in the voting process, provided they join quickly. Please visit www.mpg.org for more details. Also, anyone who is not eligible to vote can still see the full list of nominees by visiting

In addition, this year, in response to requests from some of the studios to design a more inclusive voting system for their award, the MPG Awards team invited all UK commercial studios to enter themselves for the Studio of the Year award and in doing so provide them with some information about their facilities on which the voters can actually base their decisions. MPG Awards has also created a partnership with PSNe, to allow their readers to get involved in voting for the final shortlist and winner.

The shortlists for the MPG Awards will be announced in December, with judging for the final winners taking place in January, ahead of the MPG Awards on February 7th 2013.
