LOS ANGELES, CA, January 12, 2023 — Daniel James has been an in-demand music producer since making his name in the mid-2010s producing tracks for Hollywood Records artists like Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato. His spur-of-the-moment creativity and ability to make artists feel at home with analog sounds and gear is the subject of “Inside the Studio with Daniel James: Crafting Hits with Selena, Demi & Miley on Mojave Microphones”, a new video from Mojave Audio that showcases the producer’s L.A. studio space along with some of his favorite gear including his latest drum mic setup consisting of Mojave Audio Microphones.
Chatting with interviewer Tom Edwards, James takes a journey through his studio workflow and how he’s found the methods and signature sounds that have made his career. When it comes to drums, he is a fervent analog obsessive, looking to create and process sounds that give off the ‘vibe’ of classic samples. To do so, he’s made regular use of Mojave Audio to get the warmth and clarity that he needs. Starting with the MA-200, a long-time favorite that he used on tracks with Gomez, he’s since assembled a small army ideal for his purposes. “It’s been incredible, sonically, I’m really really pleased,” James said. “I can’t wait for you guys to hear how it sounds.”
