Berlin, Germany, October 21, 2026 — UJAM introduces DETUNICORN, a free synthesizer plug-in that produces large, detuned hypersaw sounds associated with hyperpop, digicore, and dance pop. Launching as a limited-time Halloween drop, DETUNICORN will be available to download and activate for 666 hours; once activated, users can use the plug-in indefinitely.
DETUNICORN’s hypersaw sound draws on the supersaw popularized by synthesizers such as the Roland JP-8000 and Nord Lead. Today’s unison hypersaw stabs build on those earlier sounds through additional layering and audio processing to create a wall of sound. Artists such as Charli XCX, 100 gecs, glaive, and Porter Robinson, along with producers including A. G. Cook and Virtual Riot, are among those associated with this sound in modern productions.
Rather than offering a broad range of synthesis options, DETUNICORN focuses on a single sound: thick, detuned hypersaw chords and stabs, with just a handful of controls to shape them. The plug-in combines two supersaw oscillators with a sub-oscillator, offering up to four unison layers that can be detuned and spread across the stereo field. Additional processing allows producers to shape pitch movement, high-frequency character, and spatial effects.
DETUNICORN features six dedicated controls for shaping its sound:
- Unison: Adjusts the number of unison layers
- Detune: Creates movement between oscillators
- Sub: Adjusts the sub-oscillator level
- Bend: Controls the decay time of the octave pitch envelope
- Bite: Adds high-frequency emphasis
- Infinity: Introduces a large spatial reverb designed specifically for DETUNICORN
Availability
DETUNICORN supports VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX formats and is compatible with macOS and Windows. The plug-in will be available to download and activate for free for 666 hours, but once activated, users can keep using it forever.

About UJAM
UJAM was co-founded by Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams, both musicians whose careers have been significantly supported by technology. The vision behind UJAM is to make technology even more accessible and encourage even more people to make music.
This vision is being realized by a team of virtual instrument pioneers who had previously developed legendary virtual instruments from Steinberg and Digidesign — from Steinberg Hypersonic to Virtual Guitarist, from Digidesign Xpand to Transfuser — and who finally want to realize their vision of shortening the path from the idea to the perfect track. More fun, better results, less complexity.
