KMD Productions Celebrates Successful Inaugural Year

Following closely on the heels of its founder Karen Dunn (pictured) serving as Event & Nominees Coordinator of the 25th Annual Technical Excellence & Creative (TEC) Awards held October 10 in New York City, KMD Productions in Pleasant Hill, Calif., is taking an opportunity to celebrate a successful inaugural year for the company, despite the difficulties presented to all businesses by the current economic climate.

Dunn, a 25-year audio industry veteran and former executive director of the TEC Awards, launched the event production firm KMD Productions at the Winter NAMM Show in January 2009. Over the last nine months, the company has built its business in the audio, film and music sectors of the industry. KMD continues to expand its clientele and range of services to include a number of industry awards ceremonies, advocacy organizations and charity events.

To date, the company has put on the 14th Annual TEC L.A. Open Charity Golf Tournament in Malibu, Calif., an audio industry favorite; organized the first-ever Recording Industry Charity Poker Tournament in Hollywood in conjunction with Grammy Award-winning engineer David Reitzas; organized the first-ever Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Charity Golf Tournament in Malibu; and was hired by San Francisco–based Music In Schools Today (MuST), as events manager for their organization.

Upcoming MuST events include a celebrity charity luncheon and a joint Hard Rock Café-MuST 25th anniversary celebration party, both scheduled to take place sin San Francisco in November; Silicon Valley Rocks Battle of the Bands in December and the fourth annual Music in Schools Today golf tournament set for the spring of 2010. KMD Productions is also organizing a charity holiday event in Hollywood and planning the second annual Recording Industry Poker Tournament for the summer of 2010.

“I love this industry and over the years I’ve developed some great friendships,” says Karen Dunn. “It is truly a gift to be able to work with the people you care for and provide them with outsource services to help make their events a success.”
