CEntrance Maintains Education Outreach Program

CEntrance, Inc., a technology product design firm in Chicago, is committed to developing quality talent for the audio industry. The company‘s education outreach program gives students at local Columbia College a taste for a real work environment. Michael Goodman, managing director of CEntrance, started the outreach program in 2001 by teaching a class at the Audio Department, entitled “Careers in Audio.” He now teaches “E-Business II” in the Music Business Department, using his Kellogg MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship to introduce students to modern business opportunities in music and audio.

Successful students in the program are offered an internship, often leading to a full-time position with CEntrance. In 2005 alone, three students received job offers on the basis of their performance in class. “We enjoy working with young minds and guiding them in their career paths,” says Goodman. “When a job interview lasts a whole semester, both parties get a clear idea if they want to work together, and the recruitment decision is greatly simplified.

“CEntrance is fundamentally a learning organization,” he continues. “Through our work with top-name brands, we actively seek to define the industry’s best practices in technology, manufacturing, distribution and marketing. We leverage this for the benefit of our clients, allowing the whole industry to gain through increased efficiency and higher profits.”
