London, UK (September 22, 2015)—The 15th annual Teenage Cancer Trust concert, held at The Royal Albert Hall, found Stereophonics, The Who, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Ronnie Wood and others performing via a sizable audio system provided by West London-based Entec Sound & Light.
Systems designer and technology support expert Liam Halpin fielded a Midas Pro1 mixer for emcees and options of DiGiCo SD7 and a Midas Heritage 3000 for FOH engineers. Monitors were mixed on a Midas Pro2, chosen for its small footprint, which sent mixes to d&b audiotechnik C7 side fills and Shure PSM 1000 IEMs.
The TCT show was the first UK event to utilize a Beta version of d&b’s new Array Processing software for the line array system, which was centered around 14 d&b J8 boxes hung per side, along with left-and-right side hangs of eight V8s and four additional Y8 cabinets a side, aimed at the upstage balconies.
Choir stalls were covered by Q7s and Q10s, other Y Series boxes handled front-fills, and four B2 bass elements under the stage and a flown center cluster of J-Subs provided low end. All this was powered by d&b D80 amps. The event was recorded for posterity using an Avid Venue D-Show desk running MADI to a pair of redundant Pro Tools systems.
