Soundelux Gives Lemay A New Day

Las Vegas (November 16, 2006)--Claude "Mégo" Lemay, musical director for Céline Dion and her Las Vegas show, A New Day, isn't a one-trick pony; when not leading Dion's band, he works in his private studio recording his own personal creations, using a Soundelux E47C tube condenser microphone for vocals and more.

Las Vegas (November 16, 2006)–Claude “Mégo” Lemay, musical director for Céline Dion and her Las Vegas show, A New Day, isn’t a one-trick pony; when not leading Dion’s band, he works in his private studio recording his own personal creations, using a Soundelux E47C tube condenser microphone for vocals and more.

Claude Lemay chooses a Soundelux E47C for his studio recordings.”When you have a killer mic, you don’t have to redo your vocal tracks,” said Lemay. “With the Soundelux E47C, I can record a vocal, put it on an album, and it sounds amazing. Everyone wants their recordings to be as close to reality as possible, and with this mic, you’re so close to perfection that you rarely need any EQ. The E47C sounds warm, crisp and very real.”

The Soundelux E47C is a recreation of 1950’s era German microphones known for big sound and extremely smooth response; the signature proximity effect of the original 47 made it the mic of choice for acts ranging from Frank Sinatra to Led Zeppelin. The Soundelux E47C has also proven to be a versatile performer in Lemay’s studio, capturing acoustic guitar, violins and other instruments for demos and scores. “I don’t use a lot of samples; I’m more into the real sounds of things,” said Lemay. “My studio is small and I don’t want to deal with a huge mic cabinet, trying one mic after another. I just grab the E47C as my all-around microphone because of its excellent sensitivity. It captures everything. For violins, I use distance miking, whereas with acoustic guitar I’ll place it closer.”

Claude purchased the mic through Al Priest at Studio Tech, and based on this exposure, also sold another E47C to one of Celine Dion’s backup singers.
