DWV Entertainment Acquires Aphex Systems, Announces New GM

Less than two weeks after acquiring Aphex Systems, DWV Entertainment—a newly created entertainment company from leading audio industry veterans David Wiener and Robin Sibucao—has announced the appointment of Rick McClendon as General Manager of the new DWV Entertainment unit.

Founded in 1975 by Marvin Caesar and Curt Knoppel, Aphex Systems’ first product was the Aural Exciter. Now, the Aphex product range includes more than two dozen current devices, ranging from its industry-standard devices, such as the Aural Exciter, Big Bottom, Compellor, Dominator and Expressor, to microphone preamps, signal processing equipment, hubs, rack systems and musical instrument pedals.

Aphex is now part of the DW Collection, a luxury consumer product brand, as the second company underneath DWV Entertainment’s umbrella of entertainment-focused brands.

New general manager Rick McClendon was most recently president of Pro Sales Management in Los Angeles, offering customized outsourced sales and marketing services. His earlier career includes nearly 15 years in various sales and distribution capacities for Roland US, as well as serving as director of sales for DigiTech, vice president/division manager at TASCAM and VP of worldwide OTC Sales at Seymour Duncan. He brings all this knowledge and skill to his position as the general manager of Aphex.

“Rick is the perfect professional to guide our operations and sales efforts,” says DWV Entertainment COO Robin Sibucao. “His years of experience and respected reputation within the commercial and professional audio industries, along with his musical background all contribute to make Rick the perfect choice to implement our new strategies for Aphex.”

DW Collection is a luxury high performance audio equipment manufacturer dedicated to bringing consumers the very finest in home audio and convenience. DW Collection has already incorporated Aphex technology into several of its products, including the Art.Studio tri-amplified speaker system, the Art.Station iPod dock and the Art.Suono and Art.Solista wireless music transmission systems.

Other DW Collection products include the exclusive Ferrari-licensed Art.Engine and Art.Opera speaker systems. DWV Entertainment and the DW Collection were spun off from David Wiener Ventures (DWV), a design and innovation studio that creates some of the world’s most exclusive and prestigious consumer products.
