EENYC Helps Nick Jr. Launch “Power Play”

Manhattan post house EENYC recently met the challenge from Nickelodeon when producers tapped their audio division to finish 155 spots for the network in record time. The collection of interstitials, opens, closes, crunches, bumpers, intros, and tune-ins was for one of Nick Jr.’s key summer events, Power Play Summer.

Editional Effect’s talented engineers rose to the occasion and, as the project quickly grew even larger and their deadline loomed, completed an astonishing 174 spots with only two weeks of audio time to ADR, mix, and complete sound design.

Power Play Summer features characters from Nick Jr.’s hit show LazyTown. Shot in Hi-Def with 3D backgrounds composited live on set, LazyTown combines CGI, puppets, and live characters in a whimsical, brightly colored world. In the series of interstitials, characters Stephanie, Pixel, Ziggy, and Sportacus (played by LazyTown creator Magnus Scheving) encourage young children to stay active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

This project marks the first time elements of the show have been post-produced outside of LazyTown Studios in Iceland, and Producer/Director Jonathan Judge immediately thought of Editional Effects for the job. “I knew I wanted to do the audio at Editional, not only because they were already so familiar with Nick Jr., but because these spots are extremely sound oriented. They needed a lot of ‘oomph’ and I knew engineers (and siblings) Roy and Ken Harter would bring that certain something to the project.”
