Heil Sound Introduces Handi Mic Pro Plus Dynamic MIc

Heil Sound’s new Handi Mic Pro Plus ($TBA) is a large-diaphragm dynamic microphone in a small package. The company designed the mic to offer the performance of the Heil PR20 for applications such as live sound, broadcast and studio recording.

“Its wide frequency range can withstand huge amounts of SPL,” says company president Bob Heil. “The end result is a unique microphone that will be a welcome addition to any sound engineer’s bag of tricks. The Handi Mic Pro Plus is ideal for use with drums, guitar amps and just about any tight spot where smaller microphones are needed.”

Heil Sound adds that the Heil Handi Mic Pro Plus’ cardioid pattern control is achieved by selecting the ideal materials for the large low-mass diaphragm, with a special combination of neodymium, iron and boron to give the mic the strongest magnet structure available. The mic’s phasing-plug assembly has equally placed ports that sense audio signals from behind, entering them out of phase so that the mic produces a linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving strong articulation. This new element is designed to help alleviate extremely high sound pressure levels encountered in vocal and live sound applications.
