Mixer Serban Ghenea Goes Digital

Montreal-born mixer Serban Ghenea (Jay-Z, Usher, the Rolling Stones) transitioned from the analog to the digital audio world and uses Metric Halo's ChannelStrip software. Says Ghenea, "I use ChannelStrip on every session. It's like having a channel on a console that you can do anything you want with. It works just like a channel on an SSL, which I'm very used to, so it was easy to transition.”

The plug-in, now available from Metric Halo as native on OS X as well as for OS 9 and legacy systems, combines audio quality, DSP efficiency and EQ, gating and compression through its interface. “ChannelStrip was one of the first to make all the above features available within one plug-in,” Ghenea points out. “I think of it as my console!”

Ghenea received nominations at the 2003 Grammy Awards in categories ranging from pop through R&B, rap, urban/alternative and rock gospel. He took home an award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Justin Timberlake’s “Justified” at the 2004 Grammys. Additional credits include projects with TLC, N.E.R.D., AIR, Liz Phair, Faith Hill, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Destiny’s Child, Toni Braxton, Dru Hill, Limp Bizkit, and more.

Upcoming releases include Kelly Clarkson’s album, Breakaway, due November 30th, Diana Degarmo’s album The Xzibit Album as well as a number of new artists.
