London, UK (September 3, 2026)—Penteo Audio Plugins has released Penteo version 8, which adds independent upmix decorrelation controls, updated DSP and a new interface with an enhanced visualizer.

Decorrelation after upmixing can create envelopment and spaciousness in the immersive soundfield so a source can feel larger and more surrounding, with less image collapse and better externalization on headphones via binaural. With that in mind, the expanded Decorrelation Suite delivers independent decorrelation control over every upmix dimension for channel pairs, surround bed, LFE and bass.

“Penteo version 8 Decorrelation Suite improves spatial placement & separation resulting in more realistic upmixed ambiances that sound distinct without being artificial,” said Jeffrey Read, CEO of Penteo Audio Plugins. “Decorrelation is much more than just ‘pushing diffusion’ across channels. The expanded Decorrelation Suite makes it easy for sound designers and composers to take total creative independent decorrelation control over every upmix dimension for individual channels, surround bed, bass and LFE—while keeping a bit-exact 100% ITU downmix to 62 audio formats.”

• John McMahon Named Meyer Sound COO

Penteo version 8 is a free update for existing Penteo customers and the Decorrelation Suite is included in Penteo Pro+.
