New York, NY (September 25, 2026)—Sennheiser is now shipping the Spectera SKM handheld transmitter, completing the company’s core line of Spectera products, which utilize WMAS (Wireless Multichannel Audio System) technology. The SKM offers ultra-low-latency (1.0 mS) wireless audio while providing the continuous monitoring and remote configuration features paramount to high-level productions.
The SKM employs an integrated control channel for continuous synchronization, status reporting and remote management. Bidirectional communication with the Spectera Base Station enables audio transmission, as well as real-time monitoring of battery status, RF performance, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), audio level, RF interference and link quality. The Spectera system also supports remote configuration of microphone gain and filtering, as well as over-the-air firmware updates.

The SKM features robust metal construction, AES-256 encryption and an OLED display.
It utilizes the same BA 70 or BA 70 2.2 rechargeable batteries as the Spectera SEK bodypack. Battery run time is stated as up to seven hours; battery status can be viewed on the SKM’s display by pressing and holding the Control button found on the end cap.
The SKM is compatible with a wide range of microphone capsules, including the Sennheiser MMK 965-1, MMD 945-1 and MME 865-1, and the new Neumann KK 104 A and KK 105 A capsule heads.

The SKM is available in UHF (470–608 MHz and 630–698 MHz) and 1.4 GHz (1350–1400 MHz and 1435–1525 MHz) variants while taking full advantage of Sennheiser WMAS technology, whereby an engineer can add the SKM as another device within the Spectera wideband system in lieu of adding an individual receiver channel and coordinating an additional narrowband frequency as required by conventional narrowband wireless systems. WMAS simplifies RF planning while providing increased resistance to dropouts, as compared to narrowband wireless systems.
Specifications for the SKM include frequency response 20 Hz to 20 kHz; RF transmission power up to 50 mW (may be limited by local regulations); dimensions 196mm (7.72 inches) L x 40mm (1.57 inches).
The Sennheiser SKM is now available at a street price of around $2,000.
