Telefunken to Introduce CU-29 Mic, M80 Wireless Head at Winter NAMM

Telefunken CU-29 Copperhead vacuum tube microphone

At this week’s Winter NAMM show at the Anaheim Convention Center (January 13-16) in booth #1874, Telefunken Elektroakustik will introduce the CU-29 Copperhead condenser microphone with vintage NOS tube (pictured), and the M80-WH wireless microphone capsule head.

The CU-29 Copperhead, in development for 18 months, is the newest addition to the company’s R-F-T line, and was designed by its in-house engineering team, with outside consultation from some of the world’s top amplifier designers. The CU-29 Copperhead is based around a circuit that features a New Old Stock (NOS) Telefunken vacuum tube, custom audio transformer, and fixed cardioid large diaphragm capsule. Sonically, the CU029 is said to exhibit characteristics that are similar to its R-F-T series counterparts, the AR-51 and the AK-47 MkII.

Telefunken developed the M80-WH wireless microphone capsule head for Green Day, and it is now available for a variety of live sound applications. These dynamic capsule head replacements are interchangeable with any of the screw-on-type handheld transmitters that receive a 31.3mm/pitch 1.0mm threading. The M80-WH capsule offers a directional pickup pattern and wide frequency response, and is said to have a minimal proximity effect.
