Hackenbacker Receives Another Emmy® Nomination for Downton Abbey

After receiving two nominations at last year’s US Primetime Emmy Awards, London-based facility Hackenbacker has once again proved the value of high quality audio post production by receiving another nomination this year.

The audio post production facility has been nominated in the Outstanding Sound Mixing category for its work on series two of Carnival Films/Masterpiece’s major costume drama Downton Abbey.

Gareth Neame, Carnival Films/NBC Universal’s executive producer for Downton Abbey, says: “I’m thrilled that, for the second year in a row, Hackenbacker have received an Emmy nomination for their outstanding work on Downton Abbey. This continued recognition is testament to the hard work and talent of Nigel Heath and his entire team at what is without doubt one of the top post production houses in London, perhaps the world!”

Downton Abbey Series Two explores the effects of the First World War on the intertwined lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them. This second series of Julian Fellowes’ hit drama features all the regular cast including Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Brendan Coyle, Joanne Froggatt and Dan Stevens.

Nigel Heath, founder and director of Hackenbacker, says: “Everyone at Hackenbacker worked very hard to ensure that the audio for Series Two met the same high standards as Series One, for which we won a BAFTA as well as an Emmy nomination. The fact that the producers returned to us for the second series indicated their confidence in our ability to deliver great audio. I am so pleased that the immense effort and hard work of the whole sound team, which includes Alex Fielding, Oliver Brierley and Keith Partridge, has been recognised by this nomination.”

The Primetime Emmy® Awards celebrate excellence in national primetime programming, awarding top honours at the annual creative arts and primetime awards ceremonies, which take place in September.
