Hummingbird Productions Produces Highly Moving Score Behind “Living Hope,” New Indie Documentary About Helping the Poor in South Africa

Nashville, TN, April 3, 2014 – Hummingbird Productions, one of America’s leading producers of original music and sound design for the entertainment and advertising industries, has contributed the score behind the just released documentary film “Living Hope.” The new film depicts the stories of three extraordinary individuals who have devoted their lives to serving the poor in South Africa. The announcement was made today by Bob Farnsworth, CEO/Founder/Creative Director, Hummingbird Productions. See: www.hummingbirdproductions.com

Farnsworth wrote the 90 minute score behind “Living Hope,” featuring synthetic instrumentation. Hummingbird’s Aaron Howard served as the score’s engineer. Additional orchestrations for the score were produced by Larry Hall. The voice over narration for the film was recorded by Joel Smallbone, one half of the Christian music pop duo For King & Country (considered by many to be Australia’s “answer to Coldplay.”)

“Living Hope” recently had its world premiere in an auditorium in Nashville. Popular music artist Michael W. Smith introduced the film before a sold out audience of 1200 people. Smith is an acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician who has sold more than 15 million albums, achieved 28 No. 1 songs, and has earned three Grammy Awards.

“Living Hope” is the winner of the “Great Commission Award,” which will be presented on April 5th during the Austin, TX, Attic Film Festival. The film was also nominated for Best Documentary there, and has, thus far, been screened in nine U.S. cities. It will soon screen in additional cities and on TV.

Said Farnsworth, “We were truly blessed to have had the honor to contribute music to this remarkably moving film. Working with David Kiern the director and Mitchell Galin the producer on the project was a joy and a delight. All of the effort we put into ‘Living Hope’ was certainly rewarded when we got to enjoy the film’s world debut in Nashville before a highly enthusiastic and receptive audience.”

Adds Director Kiern: “Bob’s original score for ‘Living Hope’ evokes a powerful range of emotions. In some sequences, Bob’s music causes the audience to lean in and connect with the characters in an intimate way. In other scenes, his music causes them to sit back and become enveloped in the African vistas and scope of the story. This is the second feature film which Bob and I have worked on together, and I’m anxiously anticipating working with him and Hummingbird on a third.”
