U Street Music Hall Dazzles D.C. With Martin Audio System

Located on Washington, D.C.’s hip, edgy street for new music, the U St. Music Hall has a powerful and highly sophisticated sound system that immediately set it apart. Or as the Washington Post’s Chris Richards put it, “Bass drips like subsonic honey from U Hall’s six-figure sound system, an incredible machine that trumps any nightclub’s in the city.â€?

Or as club principal Will Eastman commented wryly about the earth-shattering bass in DCist, “One of our friends from the 9:30 Club was here last night, and he said, ‘nobody that works in this club will ever have kidney stones.’

A small dance club that holds up 300, the Music Hall is described as “no frills in the DCist story that goes on to say “the top-of-the-line Martin Audio system was the number one focus in developing the space. Unlike other rock clubs nearby on U. Street, it is

a dance hall in the best sense that reflects the sentiments of its owners who are all DJs. As owner Jess Tittsworth told DCist, “It’s no frills, but it’s not a dive bar. It has a little touch of class without being pretentious. You’ve got the infrastructure of a real dance club without any of the snobbery.â€?

Installed by ITI (Innovative Transducer Implementation) Audio Inc. under the direction of Adam Weiner working with his partner William McClure and consultant Brian Miller of Edit Design, the sound system consists of four Martin Audio H3 three-way speakers, two H3H three-way speakers, two F15 as DJ monitors, and five powerful WS 218X sub woofers.

Powering all of these speakers are 12 Crown Macrotech Amps (for dance and FOH systems) paired with three Crown CDi install series speakers (for DJ and stage monitors). Signal processing includes BSS Soundweb London BLU-16 and XTA DP226 digital signal processors.

Asked why the owners opted for Martin Audio, Weiner responds, “They heard Martin loudspeakers at a previous ITI installation–Ibiza in D.C—and knew it was the best.

“They describe the Martin Audio system as amazing and intense,â€? Adam recounts. “Not only is it excellent sonically, but it’s a great value too. The sound quality you get for the money is better than other companies.â€? For more information, please call 519.747.5853, email [email protected], or visit www.martin-audio.com.
