Valencia Installs Orpheus in Bogota

Cambridge, UK (February 7, 2011)–In Colombia, producer Felipe Valencia is installing a Prism Sound Orpheus interface as part of a new recording facility.

Based in the Colombian capital, Bogota, Valencia has handled audio post for commercials, short films, international television series, soap operas and movie soundtracks. He has also worked on musical scores, recorded location audio and SFX for international clients, and turned his hand to music production and mastering. He also has his own band, which after five years, has just completed its second album.

“After more than a decade of renting spaces here and there, I am finally getting my own commercial space,” says Valencia. The facility will have two studios and will be based in the heart of Bogota. “I am really excited about this as it gives me the opportunity to design my own audio rooms and share a place dedicated exclusively to audio and music production.”

Among the equipment that Valencia is installing is a Prism Sound Orpheus interface, which he is using in conjunction with Logic Pro and Pro Tools. He also has a range of third party plug-ins, virtual instruments and outboard equipment including valve compressors and some vintage analogue tape/open reel machines.

“I like to travel and create music outside the studio, so portability combined with the best possible audio quality are a must for me,” Valencia says. “The Orpheus fits my criteria very well and I am very happy with it. It is a truly honest and pristine device.”

Valencia based his buying decision on good experiences he had previously had with Prism Sound equipment. “I have a friend [Erick Urbina] who owns and runs an amazing mastering and recording facility in Coyoacan, Mexico City. We recently mastered our album with him using a Prism Sound ADA-8XR multichannel converter, which I thought was magic. The Orpheus offers the same pristine audio converters. Our unit is going to be the heart of Room B, where it will be used for all music production.”
