Mystik Media has released AudioCommander version 2.0, an audio converter for Windows that can easily process more than 20 audio formats using a user-friendly interface or command-line operation. The program lets businesses take sales presentations, speeches, files uploaded to a web server, and other audio possibilities and convert them either one at a time or as an entire batch into the format needed.

AudioCommander converts from CD, .WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG, MP2, .AIFF, AU, VOX, RAW, GSM, DSP, ADPCM, A-LAW, u-LAW, g726, g721, g723, MPC, MP+, and more, to MP3, WMA, .WAV, OGG, MP2, ADPCM, A-LAW, u-LAW, DSP, GSM or VOX formats.

Users can compress a 320 kbps MP3 to 128 kbps for use in a hardware device that requires a specific setting, or does not support the higher bitrates. AudioCommander offers various settings and command-line switches for complete control over how the software functions.

AudioCommander provides a range of frequencies and bitrates. When disk space is an issue, such as for portable audio players, users can select a lower bitrate to conserve space. Constant Bitrate (CBR) options are available for compatibility with both hardware and software MP3 players, and Variable Bitrate (VBR) is provided for further optimized file sizes.

All conversions are performed directly from the source format to the output format, and can be performed on an entire folder of files. Wildcards and comma-delimited filenames are also supported. Multiple paths can be separated by a comma, or any combination of filename(s), paths and wildcards.

Additional built-in options include error logging, the ability to automatically use the source file’s path for conversion output, overwriting of existing files or overwrite protection by appending a unique numeric value to the end of the base filename for existing files, deletion of source files after successful conversion, and FreeDB support when ripping from CD.

AudioCommander v. 2.0 sells for $64.95(U.S.), runs under Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP/2003, and may be purchased online at www.mystikmedia.com. A free trial version is also available through the site.
