Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (seated) celebrate their AWS900 purchase
Producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have taken delivery of five Solid State Logic AWS 900 Analogue Workstation Systems with Total Recall from GC Pro for their new private recording facility, Flyte Tyme, in Santa Monica, Calif., due for completion early next year.
Lewis is particularly ecstatic about Flyte Tyme’s new boards. “It’s nice to finally have a console that seamlessly blends the analog and digital studio world,” he says. “The AWS 900 sounds wide, open and punchy like an SSL should. We are loving it!”
While construction of the new studio was being completed, the pair and their longtime staff engineers, Matt Marrin and Ian Cross, took over the third floor of L.A.’s Village Recorder studio. The team has already begun using their AWS 900s for recording projects.
GC Pro, the outside sales division of Guitar Center, is the exclusive distributor of the SSL AWS 900 in the United States.
