SAE Institute Opens New Atlanta Facility

SAE Institute welcomes its newest campus in Atlanta, Ga. Located at the corner of Peachtree Street and Andrew Young International Blvd. above the Hard Rock Café, the SAE Atlanta location is convenient to all major MARTA public transportation lines and Interstate Highways near the popular downtown district.

Commencing classes in August 2007, SAE Atlanta became the fifth SAE campus in the U.S., joining the New York City campus, which opened in 1999; the Nashville campus, which also opened in 1999; the Miami campus, which opened in 2002; and the Los Angeles campus, which opened in 2006.

Under the direction of Chris Davie, who has been with the organization for six years, the SAE Atlanta campus offers several comprehensive academic programs, including SAE’s highly successful Audio Technology Program, and is fully approved by the Georgia State Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission.

World-renowned studio builder Michael Cronin of Michael Cronin Acoustic Construction built the 17,500-square-foot building, which was based on a design by SAE founder and CEO Dr. Tom Misner. The campus has more than 20 studios and workstations, including a 5.1 surround sound mixing theater featuring a Digidesign ICON control surface and Pro Tools HD system.

Other professional audio equipment includes SSL 4000 G+ and Neve VR60 analog consoles, as well as other consoles; Pro Tools HD systems; processors by Yamaha, Mackie, Digidesign, Lexicon, Alesis, Focusrite, TC Electronics and Urei; with monitoring from Blue Sky, Mackie and other industry standards. In addition, the facility features Golden Ears and Auralia ear training stations, an FX training station with various outboard processors as well as modern classrooms, fully equipped with audio/visual equipment and campus amenities such as a full technical library and lounge/cafeteria area.

Every new student receives an Apple laptop computer, audio interface, and Pro Tools M-Powered, BIAS Peak and Logic Express software to further enhance and encourage each individual’s educational experience.
