Hercules Technologies announced the upcoming release of Hercules16/12 FW, a FireWire 24-bit 96kHz 16-in/12-out audio and MIDI interfacefor PC and Macintosh.
Features of the Hercules 16/12 FW include a sturdy external FireWireaudio interface mountable in a standard 1U/19-inch rack unit; up to16-in/12-out simultaneous multitrack recording on PC and Mac OS X viaFireWire (IEEE-1394) connectivity; 24-bit 96kHz audio sampling withprofessional-quality converters; 16 independent inputs including 12analog ins, a coaxial in (stereo) and an optical in (stereo); 12independent outputs including eight analog outs, a coaxial out (stereo)and an optical out (stereo); two mic/instrument preamplifiers withswitchable 48-volt phantom power via Neutrik combo (XLR/TRS) connectorswith direct input for guitars (hi-Z); two MIDI Ins and two MIDI Outsvia standard DIN jacks (32 channels in/32 channels out); Word Clock I/Osynchronization via BNC connectors; no latency with direct hardwaremonitoring; compatible with popular audio software applications; andfull driver package for Mac OS X (Core Audio) and Windows (ASIO2.0,GSIF, .WAV, DirectSound).
Hercules 16/12 FW is bundled with an innovative music software suitecompatible with Windows and Mac OS X and more than 900 MB ofhigh-quality sound files, including STORM™ Special Edition(Arturia). Version 2.0 of STORM Special Edition is an all-in-one studiosoftware solution comprising synthesizers, drum machines and effects(PC and Mac OS X support). Also included is Live Special Edition(Ableton), which is an audio sequencer that can be played like aninstrument.
Hercules 16/12 FW will be available in November 2003 at an estimatedstreet price of $599.
