Tri-C Installs In-line Audient

Cuyahoga Community College (also known as Tri-C) has purchased an Audient ASP8024 for its Recording Arts and Technology program.

Cleveland, OH (February 26, 2014)—Cuyahoga Community College (also known as Tri-C) has purchased an Audient ASP8024 for its Recording Arts and Technology program.

Describing the British-made console as “a welcome addition to the program’s current list of analogue desks,” instructor and staff technician Kevin Baylon explains, “We have never had a true in-line console to demonstrate how signal flow can be routed and re-routed through its architecture. I hope that students will appreciate and understand the ASP8024’s abilities in that regard.”

The ASP8024 is the centerpiece of a control room that is fed by three studio spaces with a total of 88 microphone lines available instantaneously and contains a variety of outboard gear, 24 I/O of Pro Tools HDX interfaces and a 2-inch 24-track MCI JH-24 tape machine. The room is one of several recording spaces throughout the building’s digital network infrastructure.

Ohio’s oldest and largest public community college, originally opened in 1963, Tri-C has grown to include the Recording Arts and Technology program, which began operation in 2001 to train students for entry-level positions within the audio industry. The program moved its facilities in 2009 into the Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts where all the acoustic spaces were designed by the Walters-Storyk Design Group.
