HHB Introduces the New 1X-4X DVD-R Disc

HHB (AES SF booth #1010) announced the introduction of a new 1X-4X general-type DVD-R disc.

HHB (AES SF booth #1010) announced the introduction of a new 1X-4X general-type DVD-R disc.

The new HHB DVD-R4.7GB-G utilizes a custom recording dye in which the optical density has been carefully re-formulated to ensure widespread compatibility with the writers used in popular computers, DAWs and stand-alone DVD recorders. The new disc is registered with the major hardware manufacturers, so it is recognized by the drive and the signal characteristics of the laser optimized for error-free recording. This also ensures that the recorded disc is compatible with a wide range of players.

The mechanical specification of the new disc is also improved with a new, high-precision molding process and advanced bonding formulation. The diameter and edge profile of the disc hub are optimized for even handling by automated duplication and printing systems to ensure smooth workflow.

The full range of HHB DVD-R media now comprises the DVD-R4.7GB-G (single, library-packed general-type disc with an inkjet-printable surface); DVD-R4.7GB-G Bulk IP (50-disc cake pack of general-type discs with inkjet-printable surfaces); DVD-R4.7GB-G Bulk Thermal (50-disc cakepack of General type discs with thermal-printable surfaces); DVD+R4.7GB-Plus (single, library-cased disc with an inkjet-printable surface, conforming to the DVD+R format); and the DVD-RW4.7GB-Minus (single, library-cased re-writable disc with an inkjet-printable surface, conforming to the DVD-RW format).

HHB managing director, Ian Jones, said, “This exceptional new disc delivers even higher performance and ‘plug and play’ compatibility with a huge range of 1X – 4X writers/recorders, and players.”

The new DVD-R discs join an HHB Professional Media Products range that includes CD-R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, MiniDisc, MO, DAT, DTRS and ADAT formats.
