Improv Employs QSC Rig

Hollywood, Florida’s Improv, located within the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino complex, has installed a housewide system featuring QSC’s ModularDesign and AcousticDesign loudspeakers.

Designed and built by Ft. Lauderdale-based Music Arts Enterprises, the rig employs a pair of ModularDesign MD-F122/94r enclosures flown stage left and right, both of which are supplemented by ground-dwelling MD-L115 subwoofers. Further augmented by eight AcousticDesign AD-S82 cabinets flown across the breadth of two balconies, and four more AD-S82Hs that serve the bar and an outside waiting area, all five zones within the sonic blueprint receive power by several PLX and RMX amplifiers, also supplied by QSC.

According to Music Arts Enterprises’ Bob Beaudette, one of the biggest challenges of the project was bringing even coverage to the space. “This, being a comedy club, was built with the goal of seating as many people as possible to see each act,” he says. “That means there literally are tables in every corner of the room. As we all know, corners are the toughest when it comes to providing even coverage. But with the 90°x40° performance of the two-way MD boxes, we covered the environment well. There are no dead spots or hot spots, and the projection and sound quality are excellent.”
