The Midlands Audio Institute (MAI) in Columbia, S.C., has launched a new online program for aspiring audio engineers. The new Website, OnlineAudioClasses.com, will allow students to work toward certification in audio engineering.
The vocational certificate is offered through Midlands Technical College Continuing Education and OnlineAudioClasses.com is said to be one of the few online audio schools to partner with an accredited technical college.
The online school courses can be taken individually, or a student can take all of them to become certified. The certificate is comprised of courses in audio engineering, three studio recording classes (Pro Tools), music business, live sound, digital music Production (Reason) and commercial music theory. The Website offers free class samples, student testimonials and syllabi for each class to show prospective students exactly what each course covers
The MAI was founded in 2004 and offers both classroom and online instruction. MAI states that since its inception, the school has grown in size year after year and currently trains 200 students per year.
