NEP Broadcasting Installs Calrec Audio Alpha Consoles In Mobile Trucks

Longtime Calrec Audio customer NEP Broadcasting, based in Pittsburgh, Pa., has purchased two 72-fader Alpha digital audio consoles from the company for installation in its SS25 and ND3HD mobile trucks. The new units will provide broadcasting services primarily for NEP’s network clients showcasing golf, auto racing and NFL games. With the two new units, NEP’s fleet now has a total of four Alpha consoles.

“These are the standard consoles we put in our trucks,” says George Hoover, senior VP of engineering at NEP. “They are easy to operate and we find we save money with them because there is very little training required.”

Every Calrec digital console is assignable, enabling direct access to the majority of its functions and minimizing screen usage. In addition, many of the panels from its Sigma and Alpha consoles are interchangeable. “All Calrec consoles are configured the same way,” Hoover says. “You can easily run all of them in a line.”

NEP is Calrec’s largest single customer in the United States. In addition to the four Alphas, NEP owns one Sigma digital console, one C2 analog console, six S2 analog consoles, five Q2 analog consoles, and one T Series digitally controlled analog console. Five of NEP’s eight HD units and 11 of its 18 SD units have Calrec consoles installed.
