Sommer Introduces New Waterproof SC-AQUA Cable
Sommer Cable is now shipping its new AQUA MARINEX line of aramid-reinforced 110-ohm microphone cable for permanent installation in damp areas and in water up to 65.6 ft. (20 m.) deep. SC-AQUA MARINEX ARAMID MIKRO14 microphone cable is watertight thanks to its special waterblocking tape and can be permanently laid at a water depth of up to 65.6 ft. (20 m. deep). This new cable can be used for a large range of applications, from installation in amusement parks, sports arenas and wildlife parks to utilization in OB vans near coastal locations or in maritime buildings.
The precisely fitting 6.2 mm cable diameter ensures that the cable fits perfectly, with the strain relief of the manufacturer’s HI-MARLIN connectors that guarantee dependable waterproofness in accordance with IP67. The new cable is easy to work with and does not require any complicated maneuvers – even with standard XLR connectors. The outer jacket is resistant to salt water, fresh water, UV radiation and microbes, making the cable ideal for long-term outdoor use. The internal aramid fibers provide a reliable tension relief when suspending microphones, but also offer additional protection against rodents.
Sommer’s new SC-AQUA cable provides high flexibility and is abrasion-proof, cold-flexible, reel-able and ideally suited for demanding 110-ohm applications such as AES/EBU or 3-pin DMX transmission. SC-AQUA was developed for professionals who rely on their technical gear, even under extreme conditions.
