Gilbert, Ariz., April 30, 2025 – The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS; www.cras.edu), a leading institution for audio engineering education, is proud to announce that five of its graduates have earned credits for 13 Oscar winners during the 97th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which took place on March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.

Nora Abbas was credited with working on six Oscar winners for the film Anora, and Michael Martini was also recognized for his work on Anora. Jacob Johnston, Nolan Bacardi, and Evyn DeBoer were each credited with working on two Oscar winners apiece for the film Dune: Part Two.

2018 CRAS graduate Jacob Johnston, shown here at Remote Control Productions in Santa Monica, Calif., was credited with working on two Oscar winning categories for the film Dune: Part Two during the recent 97th Academy Awards ceremony.

“This is outstanding…we couldn’t be more proud of Nora, Nolan, Jacob, Evyn, and Michael,” said Kirt Hamm, CRAS administrator. “From the Oscars, the GRAMMY’s, the Primetime and Daytime Emmy’s, and more, our graduates are proving every season how their hard work and determination in their chosen fields are gaining much deserved worldwide recognition. This teaches our current students that dedication to their craft pays off, and that motivates them even more.”

Added 2018 CRAS graduate Jacob Johnston, “Just like it takes an incredible team to bring a film like Dune: Part Two to life, it also takes a great team to help you get to that level…and for me, that was CRAS. The mentorship, hands-on experience, and support I received there were invaluable in shaping my path. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the foundation CRAS gave me, and I’ll always be grateful for the role they played in my journey.”
